Western Marine Shipyards EMSTIDE & EMSWAVE

Ship building continues to hold great prospect for Bangladesh for small to mid-size ocean going vessels. South Korea is the largest ship building nation in the world now but they are busy building the biggest ships that leaves a great opportunity for Bangladesh for smaller ships.

 

German based shipping line “Grona Shipping” took the the delivery of two vessels from Western Marine Shipyards Ltd in Chittagong on 29 July 2011. The vessels EMSTIDE & EMSWAVE are the third among six pairs of 5200 DWT “Ice Class”- vessels. They will soon sail in the North and Baltic Sea and are equipped to sustain extremely cold (cyrogenic) weather conditions. The ships are certified by Germanischer Lloyd.

Ruchi Muri (Puffed Rice)

If you like your Muri (Puffed Rice) really crispy and fresh, you will have to try one of several Bangladeshi brands and Ruchi is definitely one of them. These are best if you make Jhalmuri with them or simply eat them as is. I also like to scrape off a little bit of Khejurer Gur (Molasses) with Muri and eat them as snack. I am sure you have your own way of eating Muri - try these and you will love it.

Cherokee Boy's Shirt

This is a causal and stylish shirt for boys. I found this at a local Target store. I think Target exclusively carries this brand and I think this is the first time I am posting on this brand. I found many other clothing items for this brand that were made in Bangladesh. I will post them later.

Walton Side By Side Refrigerator (W-SS5A0)

I will still not forget the day and a family member went overseas years ago and bought and shipped a fridge to Chittagong port. Later, the fridge was picked up there and brought home to Dhaka. Yes back in those days, it was not easy to just buy a good fridge in Bangladesh. They were not made here neither there were any significant variety of the ones imported and sold in some of the selected electronic shops. Gone are those days, you can buy a fridge in many places in Bangladesh now. It gets even better now, fridges are now made in Bangladesh! Walton is the first company that is making fridges in Bangladesh. This particular fridge is the first side by side fridge made by Walton. There are many other models and varieties available. Obviously due to no import cost, the price is lower than other imported brands. One day you may be surprised to find these fridges at your Tesco and Wal-Mart.

Joseph Abboud Men's Dress Shirt

 

I have a few of these shirts, they are nice. Most of the ones I ran across are modern fit or slim fit which is what's in style now. They come in all different colors - traditional and colorful ones. I know or sure these are sold at Kohl's stores. I will not be surprised if they are sold at other stores also. Give them a try guys - you will like them.

Chaps Men's Sweater Vest

It has been a while since my past post and I am sorry for the delay. I have not posted anything new doesn't mean that I am no seeing or snapping pictures of "made in Bangladesh". I have lots of items that I ran across over the past few months. Maybe this will force me to make frequest posts now. Anyways, this is a nice cotton sweater vest for men at TJMaxx. I am sure they are sold at other stores too.

Merona Flanner Sleeping Set

Merona - Target Stores own brand. I don't think I ever posted this brand before even though I have seen many items in Target of this brand that are made in Bangladesh. I wanted to post a new brand so here you go. This is a flannel 2 piece sleeping suite. Very comfortable and warm for people in colder climates like Americas and Europe. This is definitely not for warmer places. I also like this particular color combination of Blue and Green. These are exclusively sold in Target stores or their online site.
